يتضمن هذا الكتاب قوانين الأحكام الشرعية، ومسائل الفروع الفقهية، على مذهب إمام المدينة "أبي عبد الله مالك بن أنس الأصبحي" رضي الله عنه وهو من تأليف إبن جزي ت 693-741ه.
ما يميز هذا الكتاب أنه جمع بين تمهيد المذهب وذكر الخلاف والإتفاق بين المذاهب الإسلامية. يقول المحقق "... زدنا إلى ذلك التنبيه على كثير من الإتفاق والإختلاف الذي بين الإمام المسمى وبين الإمام إبي عبد الله أحمد بن إدريس الشافعي والإمام أبي حنيفة النعمان بن ثابت والإمام أبي عبد الله بن حنبل لتكمل بذلك الفائدة ويعظم الإنتفاع، فإن هؤلاء الأربعة هم قدوة المسلمين في أقطار الأرض ...".
يفتح الكتاب بعقيدة سنية وجيزة تقديماً للأهم لأن الأصول أهم من الفروع، ومن الحق تأخير التابع وتقديم المتبوع، ثم جاء التقسيم إلى قسمين: أحدهما في العبادات والآخر: في المعاملات وتضمن كل قسم عشرة كتب على مائة باب، فانحصر الفقه في عشرين كتاباً ومائتي باب.
يضم القسم الأول: كتاب الطهارة، كتاب الصلاة، كتاب الجنائز، كتاب الزكاة، كتاب الصيام والإعتكاف، كتاب الحج، كتاب الجهاد، كتاب الأعيان والنذور، كتاب الأطعمة والأشربة والصيد والذبائح، كتاب الضحايا والعقيقة والختان.
أما القسم الثاني فيضم: كتاب النكاح، كتاب الطلاق وما يتصل به، كتاب البيوع، كتاب العقود المشاكلة للبيوع، كتاب الأقضية والشهادات، كتاب الأبواب المتعلقة بالأقضية، كتاب الدماء والحدود، كتاب الهبات وما يجانسها، كتاب العتق وما يتعلق به، كتاب الفرائض والوصايا. وأخيرا ختم الكتاب بكتاب "الجامع" وهو يحتوي على عشرين باباً وهو ما يتعلق بالألسنة وهي الأقوال، وما يتعلق بالأبدان، وبالقلوب، وبالأموال، وفي كل قسم مأمورات ومنهيات، ومنها ما هو في خاصته الإنسان وفيما بينه وبين الناس.
