تشهد الساحة التربوية في عصرنا الحاضر اهتماماً كبيراً بتقنيات التعليم، إذ أصبحت المناهج الحديثة في الأردن والوطن العربي والعالم تولي استخدام التقنيات التربوية أهمية لما لها من دور كبير في ترجمة النظريات والقوانين إلى واقع ملموس يشعر به الطالب ويعيشه، فتلاشت النظريات التربوية القديمة. وحلت مكانها نظريات حديثة تؤمن بالتجريب العلمي العملي، وتتخذ من الطالب محور العملية التربوية. كما وفرت هذه النظريات للطالب سبل البحث والتنقيب وسبر أغوار العلوم بنفسه للوصول إلى الحقيقة.
ولما للمختبرات التعليمية من أهمية بالغة في توضيح المفاهيم العلمية وترجمتها إلى واقع ملموس باعتبارها إحدى مقومات التقنيات التربوية الحديثة الأساسية، ونظراً للنقص الواضح في الكتب والمراجع المتخصصة في هذا المجال في المكتبة العربية كان من الضروري إعداد هذا الكتاب الذي بين يدينا والذي يشتمل على أهم ما يحتاج إليه المعلمون وفنيو المختبرات ليكون بمثابة الدليل والمرجع لجميع المراحل الدراسية.
وهو يتضمن معظم ما هو ضروري للعاملين في حقل المختبرات التعليمية، سواء أكانوا طلاباً أم معلمين، فضلاً عن بعض المهارات التي قد تفيد المتخصصين، كالتشريح والتحنيط وتحضير الشرائح، وزيادة في الإيضاح ألحق الكتاب بمجموعة من الملاحق جاءت في نهايته، واشتملت على مجموعة من النماذج الخاصة بتوثيق أعمال المختبر التعليمي، فضلاً عن موجز النظام الدولي لوحدات القياس (SI) وقواعد استخدامه، لما لهذا النظام، أهمية كبيرة في حياتنا اليومية سواء في المدرسة أن خارجها، بالإضافة إلى ملحق الكواشف، وآخر خاص بالمواد الكيميائية المستخدمة في المختبرات التعليمية، وملحق الخواص الفيزيائية لبعض المواد الكيميائية.
