"تحضن علبة تصلها من الوطن... خطواتها ثقيلة تغوص في الثلج الأبيض وتترك حفرا واسعة سوداء... تسيل دموع تتجمد على خديها إثر هبات الريح الشديدة البرودة...تعزلها المصطبة فلا تشعر بغير حضنها المشغول... تفضي بأصابعها المتيبسة الورق عن العلبة، تقطع الحبال الرفيعة بعصبية. تنزع القماش الخام الذي يلبسها، حبات تمر مرصوصة في علبة صغيرة، تمضغ بتردد حبة، تسيل دموعها غزيرة حارة تمتزج بحلاوة التمر، يبقى الفم مطبقاً والفك لا يقوى على الحراك لفترة".
لن ينتهي هذا الدوي، سيكررني الحرف وتنسخني الأحداث ألف مرة. يبقى لهذه الأرض طين مختلف، وأنفاس لها تاريخها، ولن أصدق مقولتكم... "الحروب تتشابه" مجرد أكذوبة.
لم تقفل عيناي، كانتا تدوران طوال الوقت لتلتقطا ما حولها، حتى أخالهما تقلعان مني، ينتزعهما الحدث وتروحان تشهدان نهايته لتعودا مدميتين. لم يغمض جفناي عن دهشة، شهقة أو موت. لقد أتعب فيسقط من سجل الرصد رماد شهاب، أو حبل سري لقِطة ولدت بالجوار، أو ربما تستقر إبرة مذياع متعثرة بموسيقى جاز هادئة يمتص إيقاعها تشدني ألاعيبهم... تلاعبي، تضيق حدقتاي... تتسع صيحاتهم.
خلت قلبي ساكناً وليس منه سوى دوره الوظيفي... حينا عندما تخترقني عتمة الغرف. تتدفق الصور التي تسجلها عيناي إلى دمي ويجهد القلب منتفضاً بنبضه ينقيها من فسادها. لذة الألم وهو يتلمس طريقه إلى أطرافنا ليلاً، صارت جزءاً من مقاومة الروح.
