ربما تشكل مقولة "ألبيركامو" الشهيرة: "عندما يحضر المقدس يغيب السؤال الفلسفي، وعندما يحضر السؤال الفلسفي يغيب المقدس" مبادأة أولية للولوج إلى الأشكال المزمن حول علاقة الفلسفة بالدين، في محاولة لا تطمح بالطبع إلى حل هذا الإشكال، وإنما تقديم حوارية لأربعة مثقفين عرب، يمثلون وجهات نظر مختلفة جاءت في كتاب وضعوا له عنوان "المقدس والسؤال الفلسفي" في البدء يتقدم مجدي ممدوح إلى الحوار، بطرح الأسئلة والإشكالية التي تحيط بالقضية، ويجيب جبران الغار عنها من وجهة نظر فلسفية وإنسانية، ثم يقدم سامر خير أحمد تعليقاً على الأسئلة والإجابات من وجهة نظر إسلامية علمانية (أو: علمانية مؤمنة).
ويضيف حمزة أرسبي وجهة النظر العلمية المعنية بالسؤال والإجابة معاً، وهي وجهة نظر مبنية على الدراسات التجريبية والتحليلية، ورويداً رويداً تكتمل دائرة الحوار والنقاش، لغاية إضاءة الموضوع من عدة جوانب.
تستمد هذه الحوارية إلى أربعة محاور، يحمل كل منها موضوعاً يتضمن عدة أسئلة، خصص الأول منها لــ"المقدس والفلسفة" والثاني حول "المقدس والحداثة العلمية" وبحث الثالث في موضوع "المقدس والأخلاق"، ويأتي المحور الرابع والأخير ليتحرى "المقدس والمستقبل".
