هذا بحث عن ابن تيمية أحمد بن عبد الحليم بن عبد السلام بن عبد الله بن أبي قاسم الخضر النميري الحراني الدمشقي أبو العباس تقي الدين بن تيمية 661- 726هـ / 1273- 1328م.
ابن تيمية الذي اختلف الباحثون في أمره وتفرّقوا في شأنه.
فهو في نظر البعض: الإمام وشيخ الإسلام، وهو في نظر البعض الآخر: هو الضال المبتدع المنحرف، والجانبان في هذا كل منهما في خصومته قد استعمل سهام الألفاظ وسيوف الكلمات ليقطع كل طرف أعناق حجج معارضيه.
وإذا كان هذا شأن الرأيين في ابن تيمية، فإن النتيجة التي ألهمني الله تعالى بها ووفقني إلى الوصول إليها في هذا البحث هي: أن أقول في هدوء الكاتب ومنهج الباحث بلا تطرف وبلا تحيّز وبلا خصومه وتعصّب، أقول في هدوء لا يصحب ضجيج الألفاظ ولا جلبة الكلمات إن (ابن تيمية ليس سلفياً).
وأمام هذا البحث أبين الآتي:
إن المقصود بالبحث هو رأي ابن تيمية فيما يتعلق بالعقيدة وخصوصاً وبالذات آيات الصفات وأحاديثها.
في الحكم على ابن تيمية بأنه ليس سلفياً، لن يكون المصدر في ذلك آراء غيره فقط، بل من واقع التطبيق الفعلي (الكلام ابن تيمية نفسه).
وإن التاريخ حينما يقول إنه لم يكن دخيلاً على الدين، بل كان بطلاً من أبطال الجهاد.
هذا لا يمنعنا أن نقول لابن تيمية أنت أخطأت في كذا وكذا وبدليل كذا وكذا... فمن قبلنا قالوا اعرف الرجال بالحق ولا تعرف الحق بالرجال.
