لقد عرف الشعر إزدهاراً كبيراً في أسبانيا المسلمة وفي عصر ملوك الطوائف، وكان الشاعر أبي العباس الأعمى التطيلي من أحد هؤلاء الشعراء الذين كان يحلمون بالثروة والخطوة التي كانت تعمر شعراء ذلك العصر.
وفي هذا الكتاب تحقيق لديوان الشاعر الأندلسي أحمد بن عبد الله بن هريرة القس التطيلي والذي يُكنى بأبي العباس وبلدته الأصلية هي طليطلة رغم أنه قضى شبابه كله أواخر أيامه إلى مرسيه، وتاريخ ميلاد شاعرنا غير معروف بل وتتضارب أخبار المؤرخين والباحثين حوله، إلا أنه عاش طيلة حياته في أشبيلية عاصمة الخلافة مركز الأدب والعلم والفن.
وقد لحق شاعرنا بأواخر سنوات الإزدهار الأدبي في أشبيلية إلا أن ديوانه كشف لنا عن معاناته وأسرته وعن شكوى دائمة من الضنك وسوء الحال... والألم اليائس من ذلك الشعر الذي لا يطعمه خبزاً...
وفي أواخر أيامه شد الرحال إلى مرسيه مخلفاً وراءه مدينة الأحزان كام يسميها، لقد كان التطيلي واحداً من أهم شعراء الأندلس الذين اجترحوا ذلك النوع الجديد الرقيق من الشعر والذي يسمى بالموشحات، وموشحاته جميلة ولها جرس خاص ولكن ديوانه الرسمي لا يحوي شيئاً منها ولا توجد سوى القصائد الكلاسيكية في المديح والغزل ويعتبره النقاد شاعراً كلاسيكياً مبرزاً وتصل تلك القصائد أحياناً إلى الستين بيتاً أو المائة في أغلب الأحيان ويحوي ديوانه إلى جانب ذلك مقتطفات وقصائد قصيرة تتغنى بالحب أو بجمال طبيعة أسبانيا الخلابة وقد اعتمد الأعمى التطيلي في شعره بجرير فقط هما "بحر الطويل" و"بحر البسيط" وذلك ربما لكونهما يتلائمان وقصائد المديح والغزل التي تملا الديوان وقد كتب كذلك قصائد في الرثاء والهجاء.
وفي هذا الكتاب أعطى الدكتور باقر عبد الغني البحث عن الشاعر وعن إبداعه حقه من المتابعة ومقدماً لنا خارطة المناخ السياسي المتقلب للأندلس في ذلك العصر والتي خططت بدورها ملامح المناخ الأدبي آنذاك.
وقد أفرد الدكتور باقر مساحة خاصة لدراسة ذلك النوع الجديد الذي انفرد به الأندلس ومن ثم شمال أفريقيا وهو "الموشحات" حيث وصل بها شاعرنا إلى أعلى المستويات.
