بين دفتي هذا الكتاب مجموعة شعرية رائعة لأحد ألمع الشعراء العرب في العصر العباسي الذين قصروا شعرهم على الغزل ولم يتجاوزه إلى غيره من الفنون الشعرية. ألا وهو الشاعر "العباس بن الأحنف" 192هـ - 809م، فمن هو شاعرنا:
"هو العباس بن الأحنف من بني حذيفة، وكنيته أبو الفضل، وقد نُسب إلى اليمامة، وهي بلدة في الحجاز، فقيل له اليمامي، ولعله نُسب إليها لمولده فيها. ويقول صالح بن عبد الوهاب: إنه من عرب خراسان ومنشؤه ببغداد".
ولشاعرنا هذا منزلة هامة بين قومه وأبناء عصره، نورد للقارئ بعضاً منها: قال فيه ابن خلكان: "إنه كان رقيق الحاشية، لطيف الطباع". وقال صالح بن عبد الوهاب: "إن العلماء لم تزل تقدمه على كثير من المحدثين، ولا تزال قد ترى له الشيء البارع جداً حتى تلحقه بالمحسنين".
ووصفه إبراهيم بن العباس قال: "كان والله ممن إذا تكلم لم يحب سامعه أن يسكت؛ وكان فصيحاً جميلاً ظريف اللسان لو شئت أن تقول: كلامه كله شعر، لفعلت".
يعتبر كتابنا هذا من الكتب النوادر في الشعر الغزلي في العصر العباسي، فقد عاشر شاعرنا "المهدي" و"الرشيد" وقد أعجبا بشعره حتى سنوا له الجوائز الثمينة.
أما النساء اللاتي تغزل بهن فلهن قصص رائعة هنا، فقد ذكر "العباس" في شعره أسماء كثيرة "فوز وظلوم وذلفاء ونرجس ونسرين وسحر وضياء، على أن معظم تغزله كان بفوز، ويكاد غزله بها سيتفرق ثلاثة أربع ديوانه. وكان لظلوم كذلك نصيب وافر من شعره، ويُستدل من قوله: "ظلوم يا منيةَ مولاها/يا زينة الدنيا ومهناها". أما فوز فيقول فيها يوم فارقته: "أيها السائلي عن ابنة عوفٍ/فكأني من شأنها محزون.
يضم ديوان العباس بن الأحنف الذي بين أيدينا مجموعة شعرية هامة جاءت مفصلة في الكتاب بحسب الترتيب الأبجدي للغة العربية، بحيث تبدأ من الألف وصولاً إلى الياء.
ومن شعره الغزلي نقتبس هذه الأبيات التي جاءت بعنوان: حبيب خائن العهد: "حبيب أتاني أنه خان عهده/فبت بليلٍ ما تزول كواكبه، فوالله ما أدري أغضي لذنبه/كأني لم أعلم به أم أعاتبه، إذا ما جنى ذنباً ظللتُ كأنني/به صاحب الذنب الذي هو صاحبه". "ديوان العباس بن الأحنف" حين تقرأه يصبح للعشق معنى آخر، جدير بالاطلاع.
