لا يخفى أن كثير من أبناء هذه البلاد والأجانب قد سمعوا باسم أسعد الشدياق وعرفوا بعض الأمور من قصته وذلك من أفواه قوم متعصبين له أو عليه فلم يتيسر لهم الوقوف على الحقيقة. وقد وجد المؤلف أن كثيرين من أبناء هذا الزمان يرغبون في الوقوف على حقيقة الأقاويل والأعمال، لذلك عمد إلى جمع كتابات كثيرة منها بخطه ومنها بخط من يوثق به من أبناء الطائفة التي خرج منها.
فأصدر كتاب "قصة أسعد الشدياق" ليقف من خلالها على سيرة حياته وبعض المناظرات والحوارات الملتهبة والتي تدور حول حرية الضمير والتعالي فوق عنعنات الصراع المذهبي الذي طالما سعى الشدياق إلى تكريسه في مجتمعه.
