فأفلحت شخصية الملك "عبد العزيز" التي تميزت بالعبقرية والحظ على تحويل القبائل المتناحرة التي يغزو بعضها بعضاً ويأخذون الأتاوة من بعضهم إلى أخوة في الإسلام والوطن حتى أصبحوا مادة الدولة، ومجتمعاً واحداً عوضاً عن قبائل متفرقة ومتقاتلة، فمثل المجتمع نسيجاً كاملاً ووحدة جغرافية.
واستطاعت الدولة السعودية الثالثة في نشأتها أن تجعل ابن القبيلة يتعالى على الثأر والغزو، فأشاعت ثقافة جماهيرية موحدة بين الحضر وسكان الواحات والقبائل الراحلة؛ فقامت البيروقراطية الإقليمية بعد ثبات الدولة، كما قام البترودولار وتبعية القوة الخارجية بالدور البديل لقوة القبيلة.
إن الحداثة في البنية السياسية ينبغي ألا تكون صارفة عن الروح التي استمد منها هذا المجتمع كينونته ووجوده، وإذا كان لا بد من تقديم فصول الدراسة، فإن المحتويات والأقسام والفصول هي أثرى تعبيراً عمّا يمكن إيراده في هذه المقدمة.
لذلك ورد في الدراسة قسمان: القسم الأول : خصص المؤلف أساساً لدراسة مواريث المجتمع السعودي إلى قُبَيل قيام الدولة السعودية، ويتضمن: الفصل الأول: ميراث الإسلام والعروبة، الفصل الثاني: الموروث البدوي، الفصل الثالث: الموروث القبلي، الفصل الرابع: نظام الغزو (قانون القوة)، الفصل الخامس: التقسيم القبلي للعمل، الفصل السادس: الزعامة.
القسم الثاني: المحدد السياسي والعسكري وقسمه إلى: الفصل السابع: التحالف القبلي والعسكري، الفصل الثامن: التحالف السياسي والعسكري (مؤسسة الإخوان)، الفصل التاسع: الهجر (القواعد العسكرية)، الفصل العاشر: التباين والإنتكاس.
