ويعتبر هذا الكتاب محاولة متواضعة في طرح الواقع الذي فرضته التكنولوجيا وتفصيل بعض تطبيقاتها على مجتمعاتنا وتحديد مخاطرها، للوصول إلى وضع بعض المقترحات للخروج من حالة السيطرة التي تعيشها، أو الوصول، على حدّ أدنى، إلى الوعي الشبكي أو النباهة الإلكترونية، السبيل الأساسي لتمكين المستخدمين وتحويلهم إلى شركاء في الشبكة وليس مجرد مستهلكين.
أخيراً، هذا الكتاب أصبح بين يدي القارئ العربي، ولم أقصد أبداً التحقير من قدره من خلال إستخدام مصطلح "الإستحمار الإلكتروني"، بل على العكس تماماً، فإن السعي هو للتنبيه والتوعية للإتجاه نحو السيطرة على الشبكة لا الوقوع في شِباكها.
