فرضت التعديلات العديدة على بعض القوانين الجزائية الصادرة في سلطنة عمان، ونفاد الطبعة الأولى من هذا المؤلف ضرورة إصدار طبعة جديدة منه.
لذلك فقد عملنا على مراجعة كافة الموضوعات التي تضمنها المؤلف في نسخته الأولى، وانتهينا إلى إصداره في الطبعة الثانية هذه، وهو يضم شرح ما تم تعديله من قواعد قانونية، وتنقيح وتصويب الكثير مما سبق التطرق إليه من مفردات في طبعته الأولى. وفضلاً عما تقدم، فقد أضفنا موضوعات جديدة، شمل مداها مساحة واسعة من المؤلف، كان القسم الأكبر منها متعلقاً بالإجراءات المتخذة من قبل كل من مأموري الضبط القضائي والادعاء العام. وفي كل ما أجريناه، كان لأحكام المحكمة العليا العمانية الجواب الفصل في تدعيم العديد من الإجابات عن المسائل والإشكالات القانونية التي احتواها هذا المؤلف، إذ لم نركن إلى الشروحات والآراء الفقهية، في التعليل والتوضيح فقط.
