إنَ هذا الكتاب يوَد أن يقدّم للقراء، مسيحيّين ومسلمين وآخرين، عرضاً واضحاً لقضية الإختلاف الدينيّ من منظار مؤمن. بعبارة أخرى إنَ غرضنا هو أن نوضح ما يقوله الإيمان المسيحيّ من جهة والإيمان الإسلاميّ من جهة أخرى عن الغيريَة الدينية وعن العلاقة التي يمكن أن تربط المؤمن المنتمي إلى دين آخر بالله.
فهذا الكتاب ليس إذاً خطاباً أنشئ في سبيل الآخر، قد يتعرَض إلى التخفيف من حدَة الحقيقة للحصول على تعاطف أوسع وتقبُل متبادل. إنه بالأحرى بناء لاهوتيّ منظّم موجّه قبل كل شيء إلى المؤمن نفسه، ليضعه أمام حقيقة إيمانه. فإنَه في كثير من الأحيان يكون الجهل الذي يلحق أكبر الأذى بالعلاقات بين الأديان، هو جهل الإيمان الخاصَ، أكثر منه جهل إيمان الآخر. فالتحدّي الذي ينصبه هذا الكتاب أمام المؤمن هو أن يقبل التقدُم نحو الآخر، غير مستند إلى هويَة دينية متصلّبة كمثل درع، بل إلى الإقتناع بأنَ الرسالة الروحيَة التي يحملها الآخر قد لا تكون غريبة عن مقصد الله.
فادي ضو: كاهن مارونيّ، أستاذ جامعيّ في اللاهوت والفلسفة السياسيَة، له عدَة مؤلفات في لاهوت التعدديَة والحوار وعلاقة الدين والسياسة. وهو حالياً رئيس مؤسسة أديان ومديرها العام.
