عاش حياته بالطول والعرض واشتهر بإتيانه الغرائب وعجائب الأشياء، فلا تستغرب إذا أتى دالي يوماً ما بإعلان عن عطر مميز، أو مثل دوراً سينمائياً في أحد الأفلام، او ارتدى ملابس غريبة عن أطوار البشر.
إن الفن السريالي هو فن العصر الحالي والتعبير عنه يكون من خلال رؤيا خاصة لمشاكل العالم التي تكون بالنهاية سريالية الحياة المعاصرة.
والسريالية هي تلقائية نفسية خالصة، نعبر بواسطتها سواء شفاهة أو كتابة او بأية طريقة اخرى عن الوظيفة الحقيقية للتفكير، تفكير يملي في غياب كل تحكم يمارسه العقل، وخارج أية سيطرة مسبقة لجماليات أو أخلاقيات.
تعبير "سريالية" Surrealism يعني "ما فوق الواقع" ولا يعني هذا التعبير تماماً "علم اللاوعي" أو "الجنون" إذا اعتبرنا أن الجنون هو جزء من الواقع المعاش.
لا نعلم هل يجود الزمان علينا بعبقري آخر عن عباقرة السريالية، لكنه يظل حالة مميزة، قبل أن يجود الزمان بها مرة أخرى، لقد عبر الفن السريالي التعبيري ذات يوم عن الكمة الضائعة والحقيقة المرة وبتعبير خاص، إجاده دالي وبرع فيه ويمثل ذلك الكتيب لمحات مختصرة عن الجوانب الخفية عن حياة دالي وفنه وعرض للوحاته الشهيرة المتواجدة في أشهر المتاحف العالمية وفي متحفه الخاص بأسبانيا.
