وقع اختياري على عنوان هذا البحث من بين عدة بحوث تكرم عليّ بها أستاذي القدير الأستاذ الدكتور حسين عبود الهلالي وسبب الإختيار هو أولاً وقبل كل شيء كان هدفي ومقصدي من كل دراستي هو أن أخوض في غمار البحث القرآني وأن أوفق من عنده تعالى ذكره لأخدم القرآن ولغته، ثم بعد ذلك أن هذا البحث يتسم بالجدة على الرغم من اتساعه وتشعبه، وأن عنوان البحث ينم عن العلاقة القائمة بين القرآن الكريم والنقد الأدبي وهي علاقة قديمة قامت منذ بدايات نزول القرآن الكريم وتأصلت هذه العلاقة عندما أصبح القرآن فاعلاً أساسياً في نشأة النقد العربي وتطوره، فالقرآن هو معجزة الرسول الأكرم العربي محمد (ص) في كل زمان ومكان وهو كتاب العربية الأول، ثم إن النقد والتفسير تجمعهما أرضية مشتركة ينطلقان منها وهي اللغة، وميدان عملهما هو النص، أضف إلى ذلك أن عمليتي النقد والتفسير توجبان لمن يتعاطاهما بعض الضوابط والشروط المتشابهة في ما بينهما، ويعتمدان على آلية ممنهجة تحدد المقاصد والغايات المتوخاة من هذه العملية سواء كانت نقدية أو تفسيرية، إذ أن كل منظومة لها منطلقاتها ومقاصدها وغاياتها التي تؤطر ممارسة عملية النقد والتفسير من داخلها وتصبغها بصبغتها.
وإذا كان قد اهتم بدراسة أثر القرآن في تطور النقد العربي عدد من الباحثين فالدراسة هنا جاءت بمحاولة لرفد رحلة البحث في هذا المجال ولكن باتجاه آخر يبين اثر المناهج النقدية الأدبية في تفسير القرآن الكريم، حيث أن للظروف الثقافية المعاصرة وتعاظم الجهود النقدية المتأثرة بالثقافة الغربية بدا تأثيرها الواضح في كثير من المجالات ولا سيما تفسير القرآن الكريم.
