مما لا شك فيه أن للرسم غاية هامة جداً وهي تنمية الخيال والتفكير والملاحظة والإبتكار والإعتياد على تذوق الجمال والشعور به والتعبير به والتعبير عن الأفكار والخواطر وعما يحيط بالمرء من جمال الطبيعة وبهجتها تعبيراً ملموساً.
وتشير بعض الدراسات أن الشعور قد سبق لذلك كان الإنسان يحس ويشعر قبل أن ينشغل فكره بالمرئيات ويتعمق فيها ويحللها، فالعاطفة عند الإنسان متأججة قوية لا تخمد ولا تهدأ، فهي التي تذكي حسه وتوقظ روحه ومشاعره وتجعله في حالة تأمل وتفكر دائمين, ويقول الله في كتابه الكريم (ويتفكرون في خلق السموات والأرض ربنا ما خلقت هذا باطلاً سبحانك فقنا عذاب النار).
وقد اضحى معروفاً من خلال التجارب العملية أن الرسم عبارة عن فن وموهبة بالإمكان تعلمه بيسر وسهولة إذا ما إعتمدنا على فهم مفرداته والعمل الجاد والإستمرار بالممارسة والتمرين.
