هذا النص ليس جنسياً روائياً خالصاً تنطبق عليه مواصفات النص الروائي، حسب التعريف التقني المحدد والمتعارف عليه لهذا الجنس من الأدب. ذلك أن الحوار المكثف والمباشر بين الشخصيتين المحوريتين في هذا النص هو الغالب على الحيَز الأعظم من صفحاته، بحيث يكاد يطغى الحوار على السرد الذي هو، في العادة، العنصر الأكثر بدوَاً في الرواية، وكذلك فإنَ هذا النص، من ناحية ثانية، ليس نصاً مسرحياً صرفاً يقوم على الحوار من بدايته إلى نهايته، حسبما هو معروف ومألوف في النص المسرحي، إذ إنه ينطوي على سرد حكائي، ووصف للمكان والشخوص بوفرة تشغل حيَزاً لا بأس به من مساحة هذا النص, كما أن هنالك عناصر أخرى مشتركة بين الجنسين تدخل في نسيجة كالمونولوج الداخلي، وتيار الوعي، والحلم، والإسترجاع، وما إلى ذلك من تقنيات وآليات معروفة يقوم عليها النص القصصي, من ثم فإن أيَاً من مواصفات هذين الجنسين منفرداً لا تسود هذا النص بحيث تمكن نسبته بوضوح كافٍ إلى أيَ منهما. وإذ نجد هنا، في ثناياه نسيجاً متواشجاً بين تقنيات متعددة فإن هذا يضعنا أمام صورة البحث عن صيغة جديدة أو تسمية جديدة كي لا نتجاوز الحدود والقيود للمواصفات والمعايير المحدَدة للأنواع الأدبية وأجناسها التي استقر عليها النقد والنقاد.
