يشكل هذا الكتاب دراسة في "جهود علماء الدعوة السلفيّة في نجد في الردّ على المخالفين" (من بداية القرن الثالث عشر إلى منتصف القرن الرابع عشر الهجري) أعدّ الدراسة عبد الهادي بن عبد اللطيف الصالح الخليف بإشراف فضيلة الشيخ الدكتور عبد العزيز بن محمد آل عبد اللطيفن تتألف الدراسة من بابين وفصول ومباحث عديدة يتضمن الباب الأول منها: منهج علماء الدعوة السلفية في الردّ على المخالفين في مسألة الأسماء والصفات، والردّ على المخالفين في الاستواء والعلو، والردّ على المخالفين في مسألة كلام الله تعالى، ومسألة التفويض، ومسائل توحيد العبادة والتوسل والدعاء، والردّ على شبه المخالفين في مسائل التوسل والدعاء واحتجاجهم بآيات قرآنية، وأحاديث نبوية وتسويتهم في التوسل والدعاء بين الأحياء والأموات وتشبيههم المخلوق بالخالق، والردّ على المخالفين في مسالة الاستشفاع بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وفي مسالة البناء على القبور وشدّ الرحال إليها، والردّ على المخالفين في مسائل الموالاة والمعاداة... وغيرها من مسائل. أما الباب الثاني فيشتمل على "الجهود العملية لعلماء الدعوة السلفية في نجد في الردّ على المخالفين" ومنها: المناظرات، الهجر، الجهاد، وإزالة مظاهر الشرك. أما عن منهج المؤلف في كتابة هذا البحث، فتمثل بقراءة الردود الوارد ذكرها عند علماء نجد ثم تصنيفها حسب أبواب البحث وموضوعاته، حيث تحدث المؤلف في كل فصل عن شيء من دعاوى المخالفين في واحدة من المواضيع، ثم أتبعه بسرد لمؤلفات علماء الدعوة السلفية في الردّ على المخالف في هذا الموضوع مراعياً الترتيب الزمني لوفياتهم، كما أنه يذكر هذه المؤلفات مبتدئاً بالكتب، ثم الرسائل، ثم القصائد، وقد راعى في البحث عزو الآيات إلى سورها، وتخريج الأحاديث من مصادرها مثل الصحيحين وغيرها، وترجم للأعلام غير المشهورين، وعرّف بالفرق التي ورد ذكرها في الكتابن وشرح معاني الألفاظ الغريبة وغيرها مما تتطلبه الدراسة الأكاديمية من خطوات.
