إن النّسْيان، كنقيض للتذكّر وبالتالي للذاكرة، علامةٌ على الأدب الحديث، في إبداعيته. وما يفعله النّسْيان في ممارسة الكتابة هو ما يسعى المؤلف إلى النظر إليه من زوايا مختلفة. وقد اتبع، لأجل ذلك، جمالية كتابة شذرية، لها كثافة الشعر وموسيقية المقطع. ومنَ العبث أن نبحث عن نسق مُغْلق في كتاب لم يصبح كتاباً إلا لأنه يأتي من نسيان مناهج الآخرين وذاكرتهم. هكذا نفهم معنى أن "النّسيان هو مسقط الرأس" بالنسبة للكاتب، إذ لا ميلاد له مع خضوعه لسطوة الذاكرة وهيْمنتها. وبعكس الاعتقاد السائد، لا بد من قول إنه لا شيء يضيع مع النّسيان. فما ننساه يظل موجوداً في مكان مَا من الجسد ثم يعود إلى الظهور في الكتابة لا كما كان ولا إلى ما كان، بل "ككلام لكلّ ما تمّ فُقدانُه"، يعودُ من المكان الأبْعد، المجهول. لا شكّ أن كتابة برنار نويل عن النسيان تدلّنا على الممكن، المفاجئ والحر، في زمن يُصرّ على تشويه النسيان. وفي كلّ هذا اختيارُ عدم التراجع عن تبنّي ما لا ينْتهي، في كتابة لها حريةُ المتخيل وتعدديةُ المعنى.
