توزع العمل على خمسة عشرة مقطعاً نثرياً تتجه فيه الروائية صوب المشاعر الإنسانية لتكتب حكاية المرأة الممتدة بين الإرادة والخسارة، أو المرأة التي تحيا بمشاعر مبتورة فتبدأ بحكاية عالم من صنعها.
تقول: "... أشعر أن الفرح يصطدم ببعضه، أني أتخبط وحدي، وأن الكون بات مقلوباً منسوخاً وأن نقطة الإرتكاز في هذا العالم كله بشعوبه الأحياء والأموات، بطبيعته وكواكبه وأجرامه وشهبه وجباله وأوديته وتشعبه، هي أنا وهو فقط. وكأنما خلا الكون إلا منا ..." .
(نحيب) هي قصة حب غير مكتمل، رسمته زهرة الناصر، بعناية يسهل الدخول إليها، ولكن يصعب الخروج منها من دون ندوب واضحة.
