يضم هذا الكتاب النفيس بين طياته كتابين: الأول هو المسالك والممالك لأبي القاسم عبيد الله ابن خرداذبة، وفيه ينقل إلى العربية ما دوّنه "بطلميوس" بلغة أعجمية عن مسالك الأرض وممالكها وصفتها وبعدها وقربها وعامرها والمسير بين ذلك منها من مفاوزها وأقاصيها ورسوم طرقها وطسوقها. أما الكتاب الثاني فهو كتاب الخراج لأبي الفرج قدامة بن جعفر البغدادي. هذا وقد ألحق الكتاب بمقدمة باللغة الفرنسية تتحدث عن سيرة "أبي القاسم ابن خرداذبة" وبفهارس عامة للكتابين.
