صدر هذا الكتاب عام 1964، ونال جائزة "جمعية أصدقاء الكتاب في لبنان"، "عن الدراسات اللبنانية". تتحدث الدراسة عن النهضة الفولكورية التي شهدت أمان تلك الحقبة من الزمن، ازدهاراً ملفتاً، غطى معظم المدن والقرى اللبنانية، واجتذب السيّاح من جميع أقطار العالم.. ثم تركز الدراسة على صلب الموضوع أي نشوء الحرف الشعبية في لبنان وتطورها تباعاً، منذ عهد الفينيقيين، حتى عام 1964. واليوم وبعد نيف وربع قرن تقريباً، تصدر هذه الطبعة الجديدة من الكتاب، نظراً للحاجة الملحة إليه ولما يقدمه من كم من المعلومات الثمينة التي تتقصى نشوء الحرف الشعبية وتطورها منذ عهد الفينيقيين، عصراً فعصراً، حتى يومنا هذا.
