ولمّا أنزل الله تعالى دينه الإسلام، تنازع الناس في فهمه، وهم بين مخطئ ومصيب، والمخطئ قد يكون مخطئاً بسبب خلل في فكره أداه إلى ما آل إليه، وقد يكون بسبب دوافع نفسية أو إجتماعية أو سياسية أو غير ذلك، ولم يلتفت العلماء كثيراً إلى الرد على من انحرف لدافع غير فكري لأن المعتبر في الوصول إلى الفهم السليم هو الطريق المنضبط في المعارف والذي ليس إلا الفكر.
