في تقديمه لمحاضرات السيدة Marie-Laure Igache في مادة المنهجية وهي الأستاذة المحاضرة في جامعة مونبيليه، كتب العميد Olivier ducrip في السنة الجامعية 1999 ما يأتي: "للمرة الأولى، إن طلاب السنة الأولى والثانية يستفيدون من ندوات في المنهجية، هذه الندوات هي مشتركة بين كل مواد السنة الدراسية، وهي أساسية حتى قبل البدء بندوات الأعمال الموجهة بمفهومها الكلاسيكي، فهذه الأعمال موجهة تختص بمادة معينة بالذات بينما فلسفة المنهجية هي مختلفة تماماً. فالأمر هنا لا يتعلق بتعميق المحاضرات النظرية من خلال تمارين عملية تعطى للطالب وإنما إكساب الطالب طريقة وأسلوب عمل، نستخلص من ذلك ما يأتي: إن مادة المنهجية هي مادة حديثة حتى في الجامعات الفرنسية، وقد بدأت كليات الحقوق في لبنان في إدخال هذه المادة في السنوات لدراسية الأولى، إلى جانب المواد التدريسية النظرية التي لا زالت تعتمد كذلك أدخلت مؤخراً من ضمن مواد الدراسة في معهد الدروس القضائية.
وتستخلص أيضاً أنها مادة مستقلة عن الدروس النظرية وعن الدروس العلمية (التمارين) وأنها بشكل عام ترتبط بعلم القانون بمختلف فروعه وأشكاله: ووظيفتها هي أن ينشأ لدى الطالب الأسلوب والطريقة في التعامل مع شتى الميادين التي يطرحها علم القانون. فلا يكتفي بحفظ المحاضرات النظرية عن ظهر قلب، والحفظ هنا ليس مطلوباً، وإنما يعرف الوسيلة التي تؤدي بالطالب إلى دراسة سليمة للمواد، واستعمال المعلومات التي يستقيها من النصوص والمراجع أثناء دراسته الجامعية. وفيما بعد في حياته المهنية. ولأهمية هذه المادة، وليكون بين يدي الطالب الحقوقي مرجعاً شاملاً يعينه في فهم وتوضيح مضمونها جاء هذا الكتاب الذي يضم بين طياته دراسة مفصلة تهتم بالبحث من موضوعين هما: القواعد المشتركة بين المنهجيات المختلفة، القواعد الخاصة في منهجية من المنهجيات القانونية على اختلافها.
