Book Description
في قرية جيكور ولد الشاعر، وفي البصرة أنهى دراسته الثانوية، ثم تخرج من دار المعلمين العليا ببغداد. اشتغل فترة في التدريس ثم عمل في مديرية التجارة العامة، وفي الأعمال الحرة.
عرف بأفكاره اليسارية التي سببت فصله من العمل أكثر من مرة، وفي أواخر أيامه أصيب بلاشلل، وتوفي في الكويت عام 1964، ودفن في مقبرة الحسن البصري قضاء الزبير في العراق.
تميز السياب بصلابة التعبير ودقة الألفاظ، ولمحاته المتصلة بجذور تربة بلاده، وكانت دواوينه صورة عن حياته الفكرية، ويعتبر من الشعراء التكنيكيين المجيدين في الشعر الحديث، وقد تقلب بين المذاهب الأدبية فمن الكلاسيكية إلى الرومانسية ثم إلى الواقعية، حيث وفر لقصيدته وحجة نموذجية بين الشكل والمضمون في نضج شعري ووحدة عضوية حية.
اتصف شعره بالجزالة العربية وبالحفاظ على الوزن، فلم يتفلت من الوزن الشعري، ولم يتحرر من القيود مع أنه جدد في الأنغام وتلوين القصيدة.
نظم القصة والملحمة، واعتنى بالصور فاخترق أعماق النفس البشرية، وأحب الطبيعة وذاب فيها، وحفل شعره بالأساطير والرموز، وتأثر بالقصة الدينية والتاريخية وبالحكايات الشعبية، واستغل الأغاني الجماهيرية في نسج أشعاره.
وعلى وجه العموم تستطيع القول أن للسياب فضل الريادة والتجديد في الشعر الحديث.
وقد حاول المؤلف أن يخرج هذا الكتاب جامعا لقصائده الشعرية، حيث قام بترتيبه ترتيبا زمنيا مبتدأ كتابه بنبذة عن حياته.
