يحتوي هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا على ثلاثة رسائل للإمام الغزالي، الأولى جاءت تحت عنوان "جواهر القلوب" وهي عبارة عن شرح لرسالة كان الإمام الغزالي قد دونها وتحدث فيها عن أحوال النفس والقلب وحقيقة الروح والعلاقة بين المحسوسات والمعقولات ومنزلة المشاهدة القلبية، المتولدة في المجاهدة والرياضة الروحية الحاصلة من قمع شهوات النفس ونبذ أوضارها، وذلك من أجل تحقيق سعادة الروح.
أما الرسالة الثانية فجاءت تحت عنوان "أيها الولد" واحتوت على نصائح دينية تربوية إسلامية، أما الرسالة الثالثة فجاءت تحت عنوان "مشكاة الأنوار" واحتوت على إشارات مختصرة وتلويحات موجزة تناولت بيان أسرار الأنوار الإلهية، وهذه الرسالة جاءت تحت فصلين الأول حمل عنوان "بيان أن النور الحق هو الله تعالى وأن اسم النور لغيره مجاز لغيره مجاز محض لا حقيقة له، أما الثاني فجاء من بيان مثال المشكاة والمصباح والزجاجة والشجرة والزيت والنار.
