شهد العالم الإسلامي، بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى، حركات التحرر والسعي للتخلص من الجمود والتقليد، والإقبال على اللحاق بالركب الحضاري عبر العودة إلى تعاليم القرآن التي تحثهم على طلب العلوم والمعارف. ونحن إزاء التحدي الذي أثارته الحضارة الغربية الحديثة، نحاول أن نبرهن أن كتاب الله تعالى لا يتعارض مع الاكتشافات العلمية، والبحث العلمي الرصين، لأنه هو نفسه يحضّ عليهما، ويحث بني البشر على إعمال العقل والفكر والذهن لاستكشاف الكون والطبيعة كمقدمة للوصول إلى الخالق البارئ المصور.
لذلك أخذت على عاتقي ذكر العديد من الآيات القرآنية التي تحضّ على طلب العلم والاستزادة منه، وتكريم حملته وترفيع درجاتهم. ويخطئ من يظن أن العلم الذي دعا إليه القرآن هو العلم الديني والشرعي وما يتعلق به ويتفرع عنه، وليس الفيزياء والكيمياء والرياضيات والطبيعيات...
كما تعرضت فيراد العديد من الآيات القرآنية العلمية التي عالجت بعض مسائل العلم، فشرحتها وبينت موافقتها لأهم الإنجازات العلمية الحديثة والمبتكرات العصرية. ومعلوم أن هذه النواحي لم تدرس دراسة وافية، وإنما مر عليها بعض العلماء والمفسرين مرور الكرام فلم يوفوها حقها من البحث والدرس والشرح والتفسير. لكن يجب التنبيه إلى أن بعض المفسرين المحدثين يحاولون أن يجدوا في القرآن نتاج كل مسألة علمية أثبتها العلماء، ويتكلفون في سبيل ذلك الحيدة عن التفسير السليم للآيات القرآنية. وقد غاب عن أذهانهم أن القرآن هو قبل كل شيء كتاب في العقيدة والشريعة التي ارتضاها الله سبحانه وتعالى للعالمين، لذلك فهو دستور حياة للمجتمعات، يهتم بالدرجة الأولى بالنواحي الأخلاقية التي لا يقوم مجتمع سليم إلا وفق تعليمها. وبكلمة إن هذا البحث هو رد على كل من زعم أن عصر العلم جاء واقبل، وعصر القرآن ولى وأدبر.
