تتناول هذه الرواية قصة شاب حلم بما يحلم به الكثير من الشباب العربي: الرحيل إلى أوروبا. فهم يرون أنهم مدعوون للهجرة: يسمعون نداء الرحيل. أصوات الغريب الذي يسكن في داخلهم: الحاجة إلى مغادرة أرضهم الأم. إذ إنها في معظمم الأحيان ليست غنية بما فيه الكفاية بحيث تبقيهم إلى جانبها.
وبذلك يدير الشاب ظهره لوطنه. ويرحل باتجاه بلاد خبأت له ما لم يكن يتوقعه. فأوقعته في مصيدة الرحيل. وفرضت عليه حياة لم تكن لتفرضها عليه بلاده بأي شكل من الأشكال.
ورغم ذلك، الذين يرحلون لا يفكرون بالعودة وعندما يغادرون شخصاً ما . فذلك إلى الأبد.
