يشتمل هذا الكتاب على خمس عشرة قصة، اختص الروائي الياس فركوح بتقديمها وفق ما يلي: "مَن يقرأ قصص هذه المجموعة لا يسعه سوى أن يتفق مع كاتبها على أنها، بالفعل، لا تعدو أن تكون "تطريزات على جسد غيمة". فثمة ما يشبه التدقيق التأملي في حالات صغيرة (كأنها تطريزات) إنسانيّة الجوهر المجروح والمتأذي، لكنها، في الوقت نفسه، سرعان ما تشير إلى يأسٍ يكلل مجهودات الشخصيات في تحقيق أبسط طموحاتها. وهذا، في حد ذاته، يحيل العالَم إلى صَلادةٍ تتأبى الاستجابة، ولو قليلاً، لِنُتُف الأحلام في أبسط مطالبها من جهة، وإلى ميوعة تقارب الهلام تحيل الكتابة إلى فعل يتلاشى داخل غيمة بلا قوام! فلنقرأ مثلاً: "كيف لنا بحق السماء أن نضاهي الطبيعة في نزقها وتقشفها الوارف ونحن نحمل تلك الأحلام المخمليّة التي كادت تحوّلنا إلى أشخاص هشين كقطع شوكولاطة مستوردة؟" أو كيف يصير لنا أن نتخيّل أنفسنا نحيا وسط عالمٍ يسوده الخواء والقَحْل يقولون بأنه "الحياة"، حين نتأمل جملةً كهذه: "اقتنعوا أن الفوضى هي الوسيلة الأجدى للتغلب على صمت الجغرافيا وعلى التلف الذي يصيب معدل استعدادهم لامتهان الحياة." وماذا نقول عندما نقرأ جُمَلاً كالتالي: "باختصار، صنعنا عالمنا داخل هذا العالم المقفر، ولكن فجأةً كان ينهار كل شيء." ـ "تكاد تشبه هاته الحياة لعبة غميضة، مع اختلاف وحيد، هو أننا في الحياة نضع كلّنا عصابات فوق أعيننا، ونبحث عن الآخرين، وهم بدورهم يبحثون عنا، ولا أحد يجد الآخر!" ـ "الحياة وحدها هي ما يصنع منا مهرجين مضحكين، والحياة لعبة كبيرة لا يحسنها إلاّ المهرجون، كُنْ مهرجا لتكنً!" في المجموعة رفض للتهريج، وفي قصصها، أيضاً، تثبيتٌ صارخ لذاك الجرح غير المرئي داخل كل واحد منا."
