لا بد للإنسان من حياةٍ ملؤها الفَرح، ومن روح دائمةِ البهجة والحيويّة، إذ لا ينبغي أبداً لحياتنا، نحن البشر، أن تكون مصحوبة بالكآبة والنفور، فالعين لا تُبصر جيّداً إلا إذا كان صاحبها مسروراً ومليئاً بالحياة.
لا يكون العقل كفوءاً مبدعاً إلا إذا انشرح الصدر، لا يَنتَظِم عملُ القلب إلا إذا أحسّ بالبهجة، وهو أن انتظم عُمرَه حبُّ الآخرين وأصبح رؤوفاً بالجميع.
وإنّما يصبح المرء عزيزاً، حتى عند الله تعالى، إذا صار عيشه حلواً، "فالعبادة عن شُكره" هي أروع ألوان العبادة، لكنّها خاصة بالناس السعداء الذين يحيون في غمرة الطراوة والنعمة، فهم يسجدون لله من شدّة بهجتهم، ويطول سجودُهم لأنّهم غارقون في لذّات العالم ويريدون شكر ربُهم عليها.
لكن ماذا تصنع كي تصفو حياتُنا وتصبح قادرين على العيش عيشاً حُلواً، ومن ثمّ - طبعاً - على أن تعبد الله عبادة عذبة؟ وماذا نفعل كي لا نكون كأولئك الذين اكتشفوا اللذات لتوّهم فإذا بهم يتلهّفون لها، فتراهم يسرعون إلى لذّةٍ كلِّ معصية، ويستخرجون الخمر من كلّ ما يتوهّمونه دنّاً.
