عماد عبد السلام رؤوف (بغداد 1948-) مؤرخ ومحقق و مفكر عراقي.
ولادته ونشأته
ولد عماد عبد السلام رؤوف العطار في بغداد سنة 1367هـ/1948م، من عائلة موصلية الأصل عباسية النسب وتلقى علومه الأولية فيها.
دراسته
دخل كلية الآداب في قسم التاريخ وتخرج فيها عام 1970م. ثم واصل دراسته العليا في جامعة القاهرة ونال شهادة الماجستير في التاريخ الحديث عام 1973م، عن رسالته (ولاية الموصل في العهد الجليلي 1749-1834). ونال شهادة الدكتوراه عام 1976م في الجامعة ذاتها عن رسالته (الحياة الاجتماعية في العراق في عهد المماليك 1750-1831).

منذ تاسيس المدارس الحديثة في الثلث الأخير من القرن التاسع ،اخذت المعرفة تأخذ شيئا من المكانة بين العلوم الاخرى،ذلك ان تلك المدارس وضعت التاريخ مادة ما لبست ان أصبحت واجبا على المتخرج ان يدرس التاريخ علما معترف به كغيره من العلوم…ولم يكن من الغريب ان يبرز منهم كبار العلماء امثال ادي شير،افرام رخماني وغيرهم الذين اسهمو في تطور منهج البحث التاريخي في العراق بوجه عام.
