تساءل الكثيرون عن الخصوصيّات التي سمحت للغة العربية بأن تكون وعاءً وقالبًا للمقاصد الإلهيّة، في آخر الرسائل السماوية التي أراد سبحانه وتعالى ختم النبوّة بها. وقد ترتّب على هذا الاختيار عددٌ من الأسئلة ترتبط بمدى سعة اللغة العربية وقدرتها على استيعاب المعاني والمقاصد الإلهيّة، وسأل كثيرون عن تكليف سائر الناس بتعلّم اللغة العربية للتعرّف إلى كلام الله تعالى، كما تساءلوا عن مدى قرآنيّة ترجمة الوحي الإلهيّ إلى اللغات الأخرى وهل تفي تلك الترجمات بالدور الذي يؤدّيه الأصل الذي يعتقد المسلمون أنّه نصٌّ معجزٌ تحدّى الله تعالى به المعاصرين لرسول الله (ص) لإثبات نبوّته وإلزامهم الحجّة والتصديق برسوله.
كما وطُرِحت أسئلة كثيرة عن طبيعة الأسلوب الذي اعتمده الله تعالى للتعبير عن ما يريد التعبير عنه في كتابه. ومن ذلك العلاقة بين الحقيقة والواقع وبين أكثر القضايا والأخبار التي يعرضها الله تعالى في القرآن الكريم، فهل الأصل والقاعدة هي الحقيقة والإخبار عن الواقع بشكلٍ مباشرٍ أم أنّ في القرآن الكريم ميلًا إلى الرمزيّة والمجاز في التعبير عن ما يُراد التعبير عنه من أفكار. ومن هذه الزاوية نظر إلى القرآن الكريم من درس القصّة القرآنية، وكذلك غيرها من الموضوعات خاصّة ما يرتبط بالله وصفاته وأفعاله. وسئل أيضًا عن مدى إمكان التعامل مع لغة القرآن على أنّها لغة عرفية يُرجع في فهمهما وتفسيرها إلى العرف العربيّ الذي كان سائدًا في عصر نزول القرآن. هذه الأسئلة هي ما حاول عدد من الباحثين الإجابة عنها في ههذا الكتاب.
