تنصب الدراسة في هذا الكتاب على الأحوال الشخصية لغير المسلمين، فتبدأ بتحديد ما يعتبر من مسائل الأحوال الشخصية، ما دامت الشرائع التي تنطبق بشأنها متعددة، ولكل طائفة من طوائف غير المسلمين شريعة خاصة بها في هذا المجال، بعد ذلك تهتم بتحديد المقصود بغير المسلمين، وبذكر طوائفهم المختلفة وما يعتبر شريعة بالنسبة لكل طائفة، ويعرض التالي لشروط تطبيق شرائع غير المسلمين، وبصفة خاصة في القانون المصري، وتنظيم أعمال هذه الشرائع في القانون اللبناني.
هذه الموضوعات تشكل مضمون الباب الأول من هذه الدراسة، والذي يعد من الواقع تمهيداً لازماً لدراسة أحكام الأحكام الشخصية لغير المسلمين، وإذا كان نطاق هذه الأحكام يتضمن موضوعات متعددة، مع اختلاف من بعض الوجوه بين القانون المصري اللبناني -فسيقتصر في هذا الكتاب على تناول موضوع إنشاء الزواج وذلك في الشريعة المسيحية فحسب. فيعرض في هذا الصدد لمقدمات الزواج (الخطبة)، وشروط انعقاد الزواج، ثم لجزء تخلف هذه الشروط.
وعلى ذلك فإن الدراسة في هذا الكتاب ستنقسم على بابين على النحو التالي: الباب الأول: القواعد العامة لدراسة الأحوال الشخصية لغير المسلمين. الباب الثاني: إنشاء الزواج في الشريعة المسيحية.
