تاريخنا العربي الإسلامي، مليء بسيرة أبطاله من الرجال الذين ساهموا في تكوين الحضارة الإسلامية بكل مقوماتها المادية والعلمية والأدبية والدعوية وغيرها، وليس الفضل للرجال وحدهم في ذلك، بل للنساء نصيب وافر أيضاً، أثرى وأغنى مسيرة انتشار الإسلام وقيام حضارته.
غير أن ما كتب ونشر عنهن كان قليلاً ونادراً ومتفرقاً في بعض كتب السير والمعاجم القديمة قبل فورة الطباعة وانتشار دور النشر، حيث بدأ الاهتمام والتوسع بالكتابة عن المرأة المسلمة في غير مجال.
وفي استعراض سريع لما نشر عن النساء المسلمات وتأثيرهن في مجال الدعوة الإسلامية وانتشارها، لم أجد كتاباً موضوعياً جمع عدداً كبيراً من النساء الأوائل اللائي أسسن ووضعن اللبنة الأولى للعمل للدعوى، سوى هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا، وعنوانه: "نساء رائدات لهن تاريخ مجيد في مواكبة انتشار الدعوة الإسلامية" -بقلم الدكتورة فتنت مسكية بر.
