ولما كان الإمام الترمذي من الشخصيات ذات الأثر البالغ في الثقافة الدينية بعامة، والحديثية بخاصة، كان لا بد من تعريفٍ بهذا الرجل العظيم، وجوانب نبوغه، لعلَّ في هذا ما يدفع إلى مزيدٍ عكوفٍ على كتبه، وعنايةٍ بعلومه، خاصة بعلم علل الحديث.
وهذا الكتاب يجلِّي جوانب مشرقة من سيرة هذا الإمام، ويعرضها بأسلوبٍ رصين ممتع؛ متحدِّثاً عن عصره، وشيوخه، ومصنفاته، وعقيدته، وورعه، وعلمه، وعبادته، وأقوال العلماء فيه.
وقد قام المؤلف الفاضل بالتعريف بهذا الإمام، وأفرد مصنفه العظيم (الجامع الصحيح) بتحقيقات نافعة، أبان فيها عن مكانته ومنهجه وخصائصه، وموقف العلماء منه وعنايتهم به.
