درس في كلية الشريعة، وكان من الدفعة الأولى فيها بداية مع العام الدراسي (1947) وتخرج فيها عام 1952.
نال درجة الماجستير في كلية الشريعة في بغداد عن رسالته التي بعنوان (احكام المرتد في الشريعة الإسلامية : دراسة مقارنة) وكان المشرف عليها أحد اساتذة الكلية من مصر الشيخ محمد عبد الرحيم الكشكي ، وقد وافقت جامعة بغداد على طبع ونشرالرسالة على نفقتها.
حصل على الدكتوراه في العلوم الإسلامية من جامعة القاهرة 139 درس في كلية الشريعة، وكان من الدفعة الأولى فيها بداية مع العام الدراسي (1947) وتخرج فيها عام 1952.

حصل على الدكتوراه في العلوم الإسلامية من جامعة القاهرة 1392هـ - 1972 م. باطروحته الموسومة "تصرفات المريض مرض الموت في الشريعة والقانون ".

"لعل من طبيعة الإنسان والحيوان التدافع أو التصارع، يستوي في ذلك مؤمن وكافر، ولعل التصارع بين المتقدمين يفوق إخوانهم المتخلفين، فالإنسان في الدول المتقدمة له ألف دافع للتصارع، الفرد يصارع الفرد، والدولة تصارع الدول، والشركة تصارع مثيلاتها، أما المتخلف فحاجاته قليلة وصراعه محدود، وبالمثل فالمجتمعات الصناعية تلوث البيئة وتفسدها، وذلك أضعاف أضعاف ما يفعله المجتمع المتخلف. ولعل صراع (الحق والباطل) وهو الميدان القديم الجديد، افتتحه ابن آدم فقتل أخاه حين لم يكن على وجه الأرض سبعة مليارات يتدافعون ليل نهار، وكل من يتحرك يجد أمامه من يناكفه ويُعاكسه، مرة يسلبه حياته، ومرة يسلبه قْوته، ومرة يسرق أرضه، وأحياناً يسرق أحلامه...".
