كأني أمشي بمكان لا يمت إلى الإنسانية بشئ، ولا تربطه أية علاقة بهذه الأرض ما هذا الذي أراه يا خالقنا الرحيم، ربما الذي أراه الآن ما هو إلا قطعة من جحيم السماء هبطت سهواً على الأرض، صحيح أني شهدت الكثير من القتلى في سنوات الحرب، ولكن الفرق أن الذين أرى أجسادهم المثخنة بالجراح بين خطوة وأخرى هذه الساعة كانوا يرتدون الملابس المدنية، ولا أدري لماذا القتيل بملابس عسكرية لا يثير في أوصالي الخوف مثلما أرى جثة بملابس مدنية؟، وتخيلت أن جسدي سيتحلل قطعة قطعة مع كل خطوة أحمل بها قدمي، وبعد عناء- أي عناء- في الواقع لم أفلح بالعثور على كلمة تناسب هول المذبحة التي صادفتني في الطريق، والمشبعة حتى النخاع برائحة الموت وحين وصلت إلى العشار الذي امتدت على ضفافه تماثيل سود لقادة عسكريين قتلوا في حربنا مع إيران تناهى إلى مسامعي من الضفة الأخرى لشط العرب التراتيل الحسينية التي كانت تطلقها إحدى مكبرات الصوت بين البساتين الكثيفة، وأدركت أن المدفعية في ساحة "سعد" كانت تطلق قذائفها على رجال الإنتفاضة المختبئين هناك.
