لقد امتلأت كتب الحديث والأخبار وفاضت بالروايات في فضل هذا الشهر وكرامته وشرفه ومزاياه، فأجمعت على أنه أعظم الشهور وأفضل الشهور وأكثرها ثواباً وبركة، كيف لا وهو الشهر الذي فيه أنزل القرآن هدى للناس وبينات من الهدى والفرقان، والشهر الذي فيه ليلة القدر التي هي خير من ألف شهر، والشهر الذي يتوجه فيه المؤمن خالصاً مخلصاً إلى ربه، والذي يفتح فيه تعالى أبواب رحمته لعباده لأنه يُعدّ شهره تعالى.
وللصوم شروط وأوصاف على الصائم الالتزام بها، وللصوم أعمال على الصائم القيام بها حتى يكون الصوم صحيحاً ومقبولاً، وفي شهر الصوم أدعية على الصائم التوسل بها إلى الله تعالى ليكون إليه أقرب في هذا الشهر الكريم.
وفي هذا الكتاب تذكير للمسلم بفضائل هذا الشهر وبالأعمال الذي تؤدي فيه وبالأدعية التي ترفع من صباحات ومساءات هذا الشهر وفي السحور فيه وعند المغيب. وبما أن أعمال هذا الشهر وأدعية كثيرة وهي أيضاً متنوعة ومختلفة الأغراض، لذا تم تقسيمها في هذا الكتاب إلى أركان خمسة على الصورة التالية: الركن الأول: الأعمال والأدعية الخاصة بالليلة الأولى واليوم الأول من الشهر المبارك. الركن الثاني: الأعمال والأدعية المشتركة التي تتكرر في كل ليلة من ليالي الشهر أو في كل يوم من أيامه.
الركن الثالث: الأعمال والأدعية الخاصة بكل يوم من أيام الشهر المبارك، ليله أو نهاره، أي التي تقرأ في كل واحد منها خاصة ولا تقرأ في سواه. الركن الرابع: الأعمال والأدعية المشتركة بين الليالي العشر الأخيرة من الشهر المبارك. الركن الخامس: أدعية وداع الشهر المبارك، وهي التي تقرأ في اليوم الأخير من الصيام.
وهناك زيارات وأعمال غيرها، تقرأ أيضاً في بعض أيام شهر رمضان، إلا أن المؤلف لم يجعلها ضمن أعمال الشهر المبارك، لأنها تُقرأ فيه وفي أوقات أخرى من السنة، لذا جعلها في قسم الملاحق الذي جاء كخاتمة للكتاب، مع الاكتفاء في أعمال كل يوم أو ليلة يستحسن إتيانها فيها، سواء في شهر رمضان أو غيره، بإحالة القارئ على الملحق.
