في زماننا (في المجتمع المسلم) تكثر النداءات التي تنذر بخطر التعدي على المرأة، وتكثر الصيحات المطالبة بحقوق المرأة، وفي المقابل تكثر التوجيهات التي تدعو المرأة إلى القيام بدورها في تربية الأجيال، بل في وضع بصمتها كأنثى فاعلة في المجتمع كله، ويكثر المربون من التركيز على تنشئة المرأة لتكون فاعلة مؤثرة في مجتمعها ومحيطها.
ومع صحة تلك النداءات إلا أنها أحياناً تنسى أو تجهل أن هناك زمناً كانت المرأة فيه ملء السمع والبصر، وكان المجتمع بقدر جهودها ويحرص عليها ويكرمها بشتى أنواع الكرم، حتى غدت المرأة عزيزة في نفسها وكريمة في مجتمعها، ونشأ من تلك الكرامة رجالاً ونساءً حملوا لواء الخير والصلاح للبشرية كلها، نجد ذلك صريحاً واضحاً في العلاقة التي نشأت داخل البيت النبوي بين زوجات طاهرات وزوجهن محمد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كراع رباني للمجتمع الإنساني (نبيه المرسل، وقدوته المتبع، وقائده المطاع).
وثبت ذلك في مواقف عدة وظهر للناس حتى أعاد المجتمع برمجة القيم والمعايير التي ورثها في الجاهلية حتى قال عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه: "كنا في الجاهلية لا نعد النساء شيئاً، فلما جاء الإسلام وذكرهن الله رأينا لهن بذلك علينا حقاً".
أما المرأة التي يتناولها الكتاب فهي بحق نموذج المرأة التي يريدها المجتمع وتريدها الأمة، وتريدها البشرية في كل مجتمع، ولذلك ليس غريباً أن يكون جواب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لـ عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنه بأن أحب الناس إليه هي عائشة رضي الله عنها.
