هذا كتاب جليل، يتضمن بحوثاً علمية مهمة في حقلي الحديث والرجال، أبدعه وحققه الشيخ أمين العاملي، وقسمه إلى ثلاثة أقسام، وقدم له بمقدمة ذات فصول ثلاثة، الفصل الأول: خصصه للبحث عن الإسناد ومكانته في هذه الأمة، وفائدة قرب الإسناد والأسانيد العالية وأقسامها مع ذكر فهرس للذين صنفوا في (قرب الإسناد) من العلماء رضوان الله تعالى عليهم.
الفصل الثاني: خصصه للبحث حول مصطلح الثلاثيات ونشأته وتطوره عند السنة والشيعة، مع إلمامه للروايات الثلاثية في أهم كتب الشيعة وكتب العامة. الفصل الثالث: ذكر فيها موجزاً عن حياة صاحب هذه الثلاثيات (ثقة الإسلام الشيخ الكيلاني). ثم قام بتقسيم رواة تلك الروايات إلى ثلاث طبقات، ذكر في كل طبقة رجالها، مع ترجمة لكل رجل، وهي تختلف إيجازاً وإطناباً باختلاف الأشخاص.
أما أقسام الكتاب الثلاثة فاحتوت على ما يلي: القسم الأول خصص للروايات التي يحكم بكونها ثلاثية، القسم الثاني: احتوى على الروايات التي يحتمل أن تكون ثلاثية، القسم الثالث اشتمل على الروايات التي ظاهرها ثلاثي في الكافي المطبوع وهي من الواقع ليست كذلك، مع ذكر السبب الذي أدى إلى ذلك من تصحيف أو سقط ونحوهما.
وبالتالي جاء هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا ليلقي أضواء على طائفة من روايات "الكافي" الشريف وهي الروايات التي قلت فيها الواسطة بين إلمام "الصادق" وبين مؤلفه "أبي جعفر الكيلاني". والكافي الشريف موسوعة كبرى في معارف أهل البيت سلام الله عليهم أجمعين، وهو من أجل كتب الإمامية، وأشهر ثبوتاً وأكثرها انتشاراً، وأشملها للروايات المعتبرة سنداً ومتناً، كثيرة فؤائد، قليلة أخطاؤها.
