لا ريب في أن الحديث الشريف أهمّ ميراث نفيس وأثرى مصدر للفكر الديني وللتشريع الإسلامي من بعد القرآن الكريم، وله السهم الأوفر في معرفة الإسلام والتعريف به، وفي بلورة وتطور العلوم الإسلامية، بل هو غدا بحدّ ذاته مصدراً لانبثاق علوم متعددة أخرى كعلم الرجال، وعلم دراية الحديث، وفقه الحديث، ومصطلحات الحديث، وغريب الحديث، وهي علوم أوجدتها الضرورة وجاءت في سبيل صيانة واستيعاب محتوى هذا التراث القيم، وتطورت ضمن هذا السياق. ولا بد من الإشارة إلى أن علم الدراية يدخل في عداد أهم فروع علم الحديث، وفي جملة مهامه دراسة وتمحيص الحديث من جوانب وزوايا مختلفة، ويضطلع بوزيفة تقسيم وتبويب وتقييم أقسام الحديث بالأساليب والقواعد المناسبة لهذا الغرض.
ورغم أن هذا العلم لم يكن موضع اهتمام عند المتقدمين من علماء الشيعة على نحو مستقل، إلا أن أسسه وقواعده كانت تحظى باهتمامهم، حتى أنهم رسموا الكثير من أبحاثه وعينوا قواعده في مقدمة كتبهم الحديثية، وبين طيات بحوثهم الأصولية والرجالية الفقهية. وقد قيل أنه أول من بحث موضوعات علم الدراية بشكل مستقل وأفرد له رسالة مستقلة هو زين الدين العاملي الذي ألف في بداية المطاف رسالة "البداية في علم الدراية" تم شرحها لاحقاً، ثم اقتفى أثره تلميذه حسين بن عبد الصمد الحارثي الذي ألف كتاب "وصول الأخبار إلى أصول الأخبار". ومن الذين لمعت أسماؤهم في هذا الميدان العلامة المحقق المير محمد باقر الحسيني الأسترآبادي المعروف باسم الميرداماد العالم الشيعي البارز في القرن الحادي عشر للهجرة الذي تناول بحث ودراسة علم دراية الحديث بكل دقة، وألف كتاباً نافعاً في هذا العلم تحت عنوان "الرواشح السماوية" الذي بين يدي القارئ. وقد تم الاعتناء به حيث قام المحقق بتوثيق وتنقيح هذا الكتاب، ليكون في متناول أيدي الطلبة والباحثين في حقول علوم الحديث.
