بالرغم مما أظهره نظام الاقتصاد الإسلامي من ميزات وتفوقات على النظم الأخرى إلا أن هُناك الكثير من الانتقادات التي تتهمه بعدم التماس، وعدم الاكتمال؛ لأن مواقف الشريعة من القضايا الاقتصادية ليست اقتصاداً بحد ذاته بمعنى أن الشريعة تحوي دراسة منهجية لإنتاج وتوزيع واستهلاك السلع والخدمات وكيفية استغلال الموارد المحدودة لأي دولة، ولكنها لا تعرض المسائل الاقتصادية كأعمال فردية مفتوحة للتحليل الأخلاقي؛ ومن هُنا يحتاج الاقتصاد الإسلامي لكثير من الدارسين المُتخصصين الذين يأخذون مُختلف القضايا الاقتصادية بالشرح والتحليل الإسلامي ، كي نخرج باقتصاد إسلامي خالٍ من العيوب التي يقع فيها مُعظم من انتهج هذا النهج الاقتصادي السليم.
