وإن ما شجَّعَنا على ترجمة هذا الكتاب هو ما لمسناه من حاجة ماسَّة وما شعرنا به من رغبة أكيدة لدى منتسبي برنامج ماجستير تربية الموهوبين الذين يتابعون دراساتهم العليا في المركز الوطني لأبحاث الموهبة والإبداع في جامعة الملك فيصل للإطِّلاع على أحدث نماذج تصميم المناهج الدراسية وأكثرها فعالية بهدف توظيفها في إعداد الخطط والبرامج التعليمية النوعية لطلبتهم الموهوبين والمتفوقين.
يبدأ المؤلفون كتابهم الذي جاء في ثمانية فصول بمقدمة نظرية للمناهج المتوازية الأربعة التي يتشكَّل منها نموذج المنهاج الموازي، ثم يُقدِّمون خلال استعراضهم لفصوله المتتابعة توجيهات مُعيَّنة حول كيفية تطبيق هذا النموذج في تصميم دروس ووحدات تعليمية غنية تراعي خصائص المتعلمين، وتستجيب بصورة جيدة لاستعداداتهم وقدراتهم واهتماماتهم وتلبي حاجاتهم.
