وتجري محاولات حثيثة حالياً لنقل عملية التخطيط للجودة الشاملة واستدامتها إلى مرحلة استخدام النماذج الإحصائية والرياضية، وما يسعى إليه هذا الكتاب هو تقديم حالة دراسية للاستدلال على أسلوب التطبيق وتيسير أسلوب الأخذ به.
وقد عرج الفصل الأخير من الكتاب إلى مفهوم المعولية أو الموثوقية وأساليب تطبيقها. ويعود سبب إضافة هذا الموضوع إلى وجود العلاقة الوثيقة بين الجودة والمعولية، والفرق بينهما هو أن إنجازية الجودة تكون عند نقطة زمنية محددة، في حين أن إنجازيه المعولية هي الجودة على المدى البعيد.
