يرى دي بونو أن تعليم التفكير يقع على عاتق التربية والتعليم بشكل عام وعلى المدرسة بشكل خاص، ودعا إلى تعلم التفكير كموضوع رئيس بين الموضوعات الدراسية يطور عقل المتعلم والمعلم، مما يؤدي إلى تطور مجتمعي أن على التربية ضخ الأفكار والإستراتيجيات التي تسمح ببناء جيل قادر على التفكير المنهجي لرفع مستوى مهاراته الإبداعية (دي بونو 1989).
وأن عملية التوافق تعبر عن جملة العمليات الديناميكية التي يقوم بها الفرد متأثراً بالوسط الذي يعيش فيه من أجل إشباع حاجاته وحفظ إتزانه والتخلص من التوتر الذي ينجم من عدم إشباع تلك الحاجات، كما أن التوافق السوي يتحدد وفقاً لمدى نجاح الأساليب التوافقية التي يتبعها الفرد للوصول إلى حالة من الإتزان النفسي مع البيئة ومؤثراتها.
