كنت في تحد لم أعرف ماهيته· هل كنت أحاول أن أبني يوميات تلك العلاقة لتكون النص، أم كنت أحاول صياغة العلاقة نفسها في نص· كانت الكتابة والفعل يتناوبان أدوارهما في الحب. لذلك حينما ذهبت لزيارتك هناك، كنت أقول لنفسي إنني ذاهب لمجرد إكمال النص، رغم أنني كنت أعرف في سريرتي أن ذلك ليس بالضبط كل شيء· لكنني وجدت فيه حلاً سحرياً، بل ومقنعاً وكافياً لكي أذهب. كنت أعرف أن ذهابي لن يصلح شيئاً من حالة الحب المتدهورة، لكني رأيت أن في فعل الذهاب ذاته إكمالا للعلاقة ــ النص. لذلك اكتفيت به ولم أجد أية حاجة لمواصلة الكتابة هناك، لأن الذهاب كان الكتابة بعينها.
