خلقت الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية واقعاً مختلفاً ومغايراً في كل مستويات الحياة، هذا الواقع المغاير الجديد والمشوّه أفرز ردود فعل مختلفة عند الإنسان، وإذا كان الأدب عموماً لا يمكنه أن يكون حيادياً تجاه أية ظاهرة جديدة تحدث في المجتمع، فإن أدب الحرب الأهلية اللبناني ساهم بجدية في رصد ردود الفعل هذه.
إن إختياري لأدب إلياس خوري ليكون مادة التطبيق لمسألة العلاقة بين الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية والشخصيات الغيريّة التي أفرزتها لم يكن أمراً إعتباطياً بأي حال من الأحوال، إنما يعود في الأساس إلى القيمة الفنية الكامنة في هذه الأعمال، وقد ساهمت مساهمة جادة في تحديد ملامح أدب الحرب الأهلية بصفة عامة، واللبنانية بصفة خاصة.
في طرحنا لمسألة البحث بين الشخصية المغتربة والغيريّة وبين شخصية اللابطل، رأينا أنّ العلاقة بين الأمرين مؤكدة وحتمية، فالإغتراب والغيريّة تكرس حالة من حالات اللابطولة، وسعينا في هذه الدراسة لرصد غيريّة الشخصيات عند إلياس خوري التي أوصلتها إلى لا بطولتها على مختلف المستويات الحياتية .
فظهرت الشخصيات عند إلياس خوري بمظهرها الغيري اللابطولي مجردة من كل سلطة أو قوة وسلطان، ظهرت الشخصية الرئيسية في رواياته مشوّهة مسحوقة، مقوّضة هامشية تعبر بصدق متناهٍ عن البؤس الحقيقي الذي تعيشه بسبب هذه الحرب.
نلاحظ أن إلياس خوري من خلال إهتمامه بالشخصيات الغيريّة، حرص على ان يقدم قواسم مشتركة لكل هذه الشخصيات، لكنه عرضها بأشكالها المختلفة وفقاً لنموذج المستويات الذي فصّلناه في صلب الدراسة.
"خوري" تخلى عن نخبوية الشخصيات، وأبدى إهتماماً خاصاً بالشخصيات التي تقتل لأتفه الأسباب لتشكل بذلك صورة مصغرة لما يحدث في الواقع؛ هامشية الشخصيات سمحت بمعاينة معالم الإنهزامية والتردي المستمرين للمجتمع اللبناني.
