ولد رشدي أحمد جواد العامل في مدينة "عنة" 31-3-1934 حيث كانت ماتزال نواعيرها تداعب ماء الفرات وتهمس في ثناياه صوت المدينة الهادئة النائية. وفي ظل ديمومة تجوال والده الوظيفي، "حيث كان مديرا للمال، كما يسمى آن ذاك" تنقل العامل بين عنه وحديثة وراوه و كبيسه، والفلوجة، والعمارة، المكان الأثير لدى ذاكرته ثم بغداد، حيث أكمل دراسته في اعداديتها المركزية. بغداد التي سيبدأ معها بلحظات من عشق جميل. عشق لم ينتهي حتى بعد غياب جسده من ملامسة هوائها. بغداد إني أغار لو لامست أكتافك العارية كفا غريب في الدجى مستثار.
