"ما بعد المحيط" قصائد نثرية تنزع نحو الدرامية في بنائها الشعري، يبث خلالها ذوقان عبد الصمد هموم عصره في محاولة للتعبير عما يجري، ويقع، وقد بدا فيها الشاعر واعياً لدلالات النص المتنوع المستويات والرؤيات والمناخات؛ فبإحساسه العميق بالبشر؛ وبإمتلاكه لغة حيّة، حاك لنفسه من الشعر ثوباً، بعدما طرزه بألوان الحياة، حتى بلغ به لِما بعد المحيط.
تحت عنوان "ويحكم فردٌ" يقول الشاعر عبد الصمد "ويحكم عندنا في الشرق فردٌ... رئيساً كان، أم ملكاً مطاعاً!... ليُقري، كلما القى عِظاماً... تبقّت من فريسته، الرّعاعا!!... فباتَ على اللذائذ في قصورٍ... وباتوا في خيامهم جياعا!!... يُواعدُ مقسماً برغيدِ عيشٍ... ولا وعدٌ، ولا قسمٌ يُراعي...".
وكأن القصيدة عند شاعرنا تقوم بإستقصاء لطرائف الموت التي يختارها حكام الشرق لشعوبهم، وبهذا المعنى يكون القارئ إزاء تجربة شعورية أكثر صدقاً في عاطفتها، وأكثر إبتعاداً عن التكلف، فالشاعر يستدعي بعباراته الحاكم والمحكوم على حد سواء، وبذلك سنكون مع صور متنوعة من التجليات الحضورية لها في النص بشكل تبدو فيه اللغة قد فجرت كل إمكاناتها وطاقاتها الفنية.
يتألف الكتاب من "كلمة أدمون رزق في تكريم الشاعر ذوقان عبد الصمد في سُدُرات الشعر"، و"كلمة ذوقان في حفل توقيع ديوانه"، "ستائر ممزّقة"، يليها قصائد الشاعر في "ما بعد المحيط"، "وجاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "ما زلت أذكرُ"، "إلى روح سعيد عقل"، "إلى روح نزار قباني"، "إلى روح سميح القاسم"، "فوق المحيط"، "يحدثني عن سحر وجنتك الورد"، "على شرفتي"، "السّلام والحُلم"، "عند شط الخليج"، "ترونو"... وعناوين أخرى.
