وهذا الكتاب يقدم قصة أحد هؤلاء الذين بقيت أعمالهم مجهولة. إنها قصة الرحالة "إدوارد نولدة" الذي كان يعمل لصالح الإمبراطورية الروسية، وزار الجزيرة العربية سنة 1893/، وقدم معلومات عن أوضاع السياسية لا سيما أوضاع وسط الجزيرة العربية، ومعلوما هذا المبعوث والوقائع التي تحدث عنها تختلف في كثير من جوانبها عما هو متعارف عليه وتقدم إضافات جديدة حول أوضاع الجزيرة العربية في الربيع الأخير من القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي.
