تعمل مجلة الثقافة النفسية المتخصصة على تقديم أفضل مستوى ممكن من الإحاطة بمستجدات الاختصاص في كافة فروع العلوم النفسية محاولة بذلك الاستجابة لحاجات المتخصصين والمهتمين خصوصاً بعد تداخل تطبيقات الاختصاص مع مختلف فروع العلوم الإنسانية. وذلك من خلال إطلاع القارئ على اتجاهات البحوث العالمية وتعريفه بأخبار ومستجدات هذه البحوث وعبر بعض الترجمات المفيدة. أما بالنسبة للبحوث العربية فإن المجلة تسعى لتقديم كافة الدراسات والبحوث الرصينة والمسايرة للمستجدات وللحاجات الفعلية لمجتمعنا العربي.
والعدد الذي بين أيدينا من المجلة هو التاسع والأربعون وهو صادر في كانون الثاني/يناير2002، ويناقش موضوعاً أساسياً هو سيكولوجية الأزمات وذلك عبر تعرضه لبعض النقاط الهامة والآنية ف هذا الموضوع منها اضطراب ما بعد الضغوط الصدمية، قراءة في الكارثة الأميركية الجديدة (11/09/2001) وانعكاساتها، والآثار الاجتماعية والنفسية الناجمة عن الكوارث الطبيعية، الانتحار في عدن، معاناة الأسرى العرب السرى المصريين نموذجا، الاختبارات النفسية المستخدمة في أوضاع الكوارث والأزمات.
كما ويناقش العدد موضوعات أخرى لا تقل أهمية عن موضوع العدد، وهذه الموضوعات تتراوح ما بين السياسة وعلم النفس والطب والعلوم الإنسانية، ومن هذه الموضوعات تتراوح ما بين السياسية وعلم النفس والطب، والعلوم الإنسانية، ومن هذه الموضوعات نذكر: الاستجابة للعلاج الخادع (البلاسيبو)، علاج الشيخوخة المبكرة يمهد لأحلام الشباب الدائم، زرع خلايا جذعيه تقيد السمع للصم، ظلال الغيرة، تمحوها الثقة بالنفس، كما وفي عرض لوقائع المؤتمر عقدته الجمعية العالمية في حزيران 2001 ريودي جانيرو ودار النقاش فيه حول علاج العجز الجنسي.
